No. 20 Caballo Loco N° 20
Harvest compilation from 1992 to 2020

Crazy Horse No. 20

Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Cab Franc, Syrah, Malbec, Carignan, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot.

Origin

Caballo Loco No. 20, a compilation of vintages from 1992 to 2020, begins its production process by retaining half of the No. 19 batch, as is tradition, and incorporates separately aged wines from the 2017, 2018, and 2019 vintages. Its blend combines more than 20 vintages and more than 10 grape varieties—the most significant being Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and Cabernet Franc among the classic varieties, and Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah among the Mediterranean varieties—using a combination of neutral French oak barrels and stainless steel. The blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Tannat, Carignan, Malbec, and Merlot, sourced from the Central Valley: Limarí contributes the Syrah, Maipo the Cabernet Sauvignon, Colchagua the Carménère, Curicó the Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec, and Maule the Mediterranean varieties Carignan and Grenache. With 14.5% of alcohol, a pH of 3.59, acidity of 5.67 g/l, and residual sugar of 1.52 g/l, this vintage offers a complex combination of red and black fruit notes with spices on the nose, accompanied by subtle hints of mocha; on the palate, it is deep and elegant, with perfectly rounded tannins, silky yet surprisingly structured, and a long, outstanding finish.

Vinification

Hand-harvested and destemmed, fermented in open fermenters for 10 days for gentle extraction. Post-fermentation maceration for 21 days.
