The history of Caballo Loco is the history of a blend: the constant search for the best possible expression, valley by valley, year after year, beyond any border of origin.
In the quiet winery of Lontué, Jorge Coderch, who inspired the name Caballo Loco, and the winemaking team at Viña Valdivieso bet on instinct, giving life to a wine with the rebellious spirit of a wild horse.
The result was not just a bold, top-quality blend, but the coexistence of different grape varieties, valleys, and years in a single glass.
Each valley brings its own voice to the Caballo Loco universe, and together they give life to a collection of unique identities. The harvests merge like the unstoppable energy of a horse in motion: intense, passionate, and guided by instinct.
Inspired by the strength of its name, this wine defies convention: it breaks with tradition and transforms the wild into elegance. Every bottle preserves that legacy of freedom, a living spirit in constant evolution, one that cannot be contained in a single glass.
A horticulturist and winemaker by training, with studies at Lincoln College, New Zealand, Brett has led Caballo Loco's wines since 2001, heading a dedicated team of winemakers and viticulturists committed to the excellence of every vintage. His passion for wine, which began in his teenage years, took him to work in France, Spain, California, and South Africa, before arriving in Chile in 1994, where the possibilities of Chilean wine captivated him. Since then he has built a family in the country, along with a deep love for its wines and its people.

His work focuses on identifying terroirs, selecting sites, and managing high-quality vineyards aimed at expressing the fullest oenological potential of each origin. He has complemented his training with technical exchanges in Australia, the United States, France, Italy, South Africa, and Spain, incorporating cutting-edge practices in sustainability and climate change adaptation. His philosophy is based on precision, observational viticulture that prioritizes the plant's physiological balance and the faithful expression of origin in every wine.
