Caballo Loco N° 9
NV 1992 a 2004
Origin
Caballo Loco No. 9, a compilation of vintages from 1992 to 2004, bottled in 2006, is a blend of 12 vintages, starting with No. 8 and incorporating the 2004 vintage, a low-yield year that resulted in highly concentrated wines. This edition adds the Apalta vineyard in the Colchagua Valley, with Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1995. The varietals remain Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere, with vineyards in Maipo, Maule, Curicó, and Colchagua (Central Denomination of Origin). From this edition onward, the color is described as a deep, dark red, with 14.4% alcohol. Aged for 36 months in French and American oak barrels (25% new); 36,000 bottles produced.
Vinification
Harvested and destemmed, fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts. Maceration time 21 days.
