N°01 Caballo loco Nº 1
Compilation of harvests from 1992 to 1994

Caballo loco Nº 1

Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Cabernet Franc - Pinot Noir.

Origin

Caballo Loco N° 1, a compilation of vintages from 1992 to 1994, was bottled in 1995. It is a blend of three vintages, made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir grapes from the Colchagua (Peralillo), Curicó (Sagrada Familia), and Maule (Linares) valleys, under the Central Denomination of Origin. This first edition, with its reddish-orange brick color, is characterized by its lower alcohol content (12.9%), while still maintaining great freshness and balance. It was aged for 21 months in French and American oak barrels, with a production of 36,000 bottles.

Vinification

A portion of this initial blend was strategically reserved: the younger wines continued their individual aging in barrels with the aim of being incorporated into the next edition. Thus was born the method, inspired by the solera system, which today—21 editions later—is still in use.
